The Close Protection course is a qualification for anyone who work or would like to work as Close Protection Officers. The course has its basis on the SIA Specification for Learning and Qualifications for Close Protection Operatives and in Conflict Management. Successful completion of the qualification enables learners to apply for an SIA licence in Close Protection. The qualification covers the following areas in security training: Legislation governing close protection industry, the roles and responsibilities of close protection officer, threat assessment and risk management, appropriate surveillance techniques, venue security operations, designing and demonstrating operational planning, teamwork and interpersonal skills, reconnaissance conducting, close protection foot drills, route planning and vehicle movement tactics and operations, search Techniques and procedures, and conflict management techniques.
